![]() ![]() "I don't know how I lost the New Testament," Hayes said. ![]() It's still a mystery to Haas and Bob Hayes how the Bible ended up in Haas' attic. He loaned the Bible to other soldiers when they wanted to read it. Hayes said he never read the Bible all the way through but would read it as he could, starting with the book of Matthew. Some of his good friends didn't return home. During that time, he had some close calls. Hayes said he was on the front line of the war for almost a year. "She had heard stories of soldiers who didn't get shot and were kept safe because they would keep a New Testament in their front pocket over their heart," he said. Hayes, was a maintenance man at A&M Tech School at Okmulgee, and his mother was a cottage hostess there. It was signed by Hayes' parents and dated Jan. Hayes' parents sent him the pocket-size New Testament when he was in Japan, before he went to Korea with the 45th Infantry.įive decades later, he gingerly opens the Bible and reads the inscription from his parents: "May God bless you and keep you safe from all harm." The front cover has pulled loose, but Hayes said he would find someone to repair it. Now it sits on the coffee table in the den and he doesn't let it out of his sight. Hayes, now 72 and disabled, said he hadn't seen that Bible in more than 52 years. "I looked at it and it was exactly the same," Hayes said. It arrived just before Christmas, making it, Hayes said, the best Christmas present he ever had received. ![]() Haas carefully wrapped the Bible and mailed it to him. Hayes called Haas and confirmed the Bible was his by telling her about an inscription inside. We can’t just fall back to God when our lives are a mess, He has to be a constant in our lives, He has to be first.ĭid you know that when we sing Amen it means that we are receiving the blessing? The Hebrew definition of amen means certainty, truth and to verify."I wasn't sure if he was alive, or if he was even around," Haas said.īy the following Wednesday, Melba e-mailed a response, saying she had heard from Bob Hayes and his daughter, and they wanted to talk to Haas. If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31). God’s got our back, He never leaves us!Īnd always remember that He is for us! God wants the absolute best for each and every one of us. He is with us, always and through every trial and every celebration! So if God is always with us we shouldn’t fear or worry about anything. I love this line in the song, God is ALWAYS with us! And like Kari Jobe says in the beginning of the song, this is the heart of the Father over us as his children. Think of the impact you could have over so many generations to come by one prayer! This is a prayer that you can pray over your family, for a thousand generations. This makes me think of The Blessing By Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes. Never forget the eyes of children watch everything we do. They stared at us the whole time so they knew what to do. It was their first day in this new environment and they were a little unsure about what was going on but they got right into worshiping Jesus, it was by far the most precious thing I have seen in a while. Myself and another volunteer were worshiping up in stage and had our hands lifted in praise when I noticed several of the kindergarteners were watching us and slowly lifted their hands. One of my favorite things to do on Sunday is lead kid’s worship. A few Sundays ago it was move up Sunday, this is when the kids all move up to the next grade. I am blessed to be on staff at our church and work in children’s ministry. ![]()
